Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten New Releases I’m Looking Forward to in the Second Half of 2016

Polina here! We have not posted a TTT in quite a while, but I saw today’s topic and realized I had to scream a little about some of the books I’m excited for. So, here goes!

1) Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

I recently reread Six of Crows, and if possible, love it even more than I did before. Leigh Bardugo has promised lots of pain, lots of surprises, and Jesper and Wylan’s backstories. I can’t wait.

2) Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst

It’s been described to me as a Disney movie with girls kissing and also horses, which is my aesthetic, pretty much.

3) Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Illuminae was intense and unique and brilliant, and I have the feeling Gemina will take it up several notches.

4) Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson

Isn’t this cover just beautiful? Anyway, this series is lovely and underrated and I’m always here for female-centric historical fantasy that gives me elementary school history flashbacks.

5) Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

I have no idea what this book is about, and to be honest I don’t care. I will read anything Laini Taylor writes. Anything.

6) As I Descended by Robin Talley

Even though I was kind of disappointed by her most recent book, I still think Robin Talley is an amazing author. Also, lesbian Macbeth boarding school retelling? Sign me up.

7) The Midnight Star by Marie Lu

Adelina is a wonderfully terrifying character and the place the last book left her made me fascinated. I’m excited and scared to hear the rest of her story.

8) The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan

As I’ve mentioned before, Riordan’s world is one of my happy places. I’m sure this book will give me some much-needed laughs.

9) Bad Boy by Elliot Wake

This is another book that I know very little about, but Elliot Wake is very good at words and Cam Girl nearly destroyed me, so.

10) When the Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie MacLemore

I’ve been meaning to check out this author for quite some time, and I’ve heard nothing but excellent things about this book.
